Within the first six months after we launched the original one day Survive & Thrive course, the message from our dispatch students was loud and clear. They greatly appreciated the in-depth psychological insights about trauma, stress and relationships. But they wanted more class time to gain more information, network, practice skills, and get maximum benefit from all the rich course information.

Also,  many veteran dispatchers have made it clear that their job stress is hugely increased by relationship conflicts in the communication center--not just dealing with the caller! They loved what we taught and wanted even more time with Jim to gain mastery of these skills and concepts--to really drive them home where they use them! We heard you loud and clear!

That's why we created the NEW Survive and Thrive Together...
You can be assured of an unparalleled learning opportunity in these crucial training areas.
Survive and Thrive Together in the 911 Center will take you to an entirely new level in your ability to prevent and manage traumatic stress AND de-stress your working relationships. Borrowing from his in-depth clinical experience, Jim has infused this training with great new content and more active class experiences to ensure you'll go home encouraged, more equipped AND refreshed!

On Day One we focus on you as a human being--the dispatcher as a person! You can look forward to gaining...
  • Fascinating cutting edge knowledge about psychological trauma and chronic stress and their impact on personal, physical and emotional health AND...
  • Powerful insights about how this traumatic and chronic stress occurs and accumulates uniquely in the 911 Center. You'll also gain...
  • Great personal skills and tools to reduce the health risks associated with stress disorders. (You may not think you need them, but EVERY dispatcher does IF you want to protect and enjoy a high quality of daily life and be really effective as a dispatcher.) In this course you will get equipped with...
  • "In-the-moment" strategies to manage your distress during the most psychologically demanding calls and to calm down the caller--and that means less stress for you AND optimal team outcomes!
  • A fresh and more encouraging vision of your profession, yourself as a person and professional, and of how to live and better enjoy your daily life.

On Day Two, Jim will build on his well-received 2010 Michigan NENA Presentation "Detoxing 911 Relationships, "C'mon: We're Better than This!" He'll lead you in exploring...

  • How 911 Center trauma and stress influence your relationships...

  • Why simple "tips and strategies" aren't enough to change them!

  • New strategies that will help you make a radical shift in your thinking and ability to thrive in even the worst comm center relationship problems...

  • How to enjoy your work and colleagues more and help create a vital, healthier work environment.

Graduates of our original Survive & Thrive course have two great options: you can join us on Day Two as we turn our attention to 911 relationships, or participate on both days. We guarantee original S&T grads will greatly benefit from attending both days, or you only pay for one day of training! Not only will you refresh your knowledge of trauma and its impacts,--you'll deepen your understanding and ability to thrive in your comm center as we take more time to unpack and apply concepts in real life during more extensive, stimulating small group experiences.

Grads of Jim's courses have repeatedly affirmed they appreciate his deep understanding of their 911 World AND the unique clinical expertise he brings to his courses. Enroll in the New Survive & Thrive Course and discover what your colleagues are talking about--Good fun, Great Learning!
