Our Alumni Speak Up About LifeBridges

Here's a taste of the feedback we have received from students in their evaluations of this course. Challenging comments, though unusual, are included to be sure you get an accurate representation of the feedback we receive. Jim Marshall also adds notes on how we have responded to constructive criticism and good ideas as we strive to continuously improve this course.
      • [Last week] I was in your class. Not 5 minutes ago I took a call from a suicidal subject. I talked him out of it!!! :) I'm so excited. It was about a 15 minute call that started tense and ended up with us saying goodbye like old friends. So much of what I learned last week just rolled out of my mouth like I had done it 100 times before. I can't tell you how "at ease" I was with the caller. I was never nervous, never afraid.
      • Terrific class, tremendously helpful. Thank you for all your advice and caring teaching. Bless you.
      • This is the second class I have had with Jim and his insight and knowledge of what he teaches is very impressive.
      • This was my first suicidal caller class and was by far one of the most informative and helpful training classes.
      • I feel much more confident that I will be able to really help the next suicidal caller.
      • Very well spoken, made clinical ideas easier to understand.  Also very personable and kept class interest.
      • Wonderful instructor! Was a very informative class. Highly recommended.
      • Great class. Instructor was very good. I really learned alot from this class. WOW!
      • Really enjoyed both classes [One Day Survive & Thrive, and LifeBridges]. Interesting speaker. Really got the class involved in his excitement of subjects. I feel prepared to take that call, to do the best I can.
      • Great speaker...awesome class
      • A bit too clinical...great course" (Note: this is a rare criticism but a good reminder to avoid "psycho-babble" and keep it real.)
      • It was helpful to get a psychological point of view of suicidal callers. Previously, we've just been taught how to establish a relationship to keep them on the line until officers arrived. Now I feel like I can actually help someone. Class was both interesting and fun. [Mr.] Marshall is an excellent teacher!
      • Audio call demonstrations need to be in course. Hearing examples of suicidal callers would be of great benefit. [Note: Absolutely!  In our first few sessions of the course we had yet to find a recording we were satisfied with. We have since found and present a powerful teaching recording featuring an extremely difficult call managed by two devoted Michigan dispatchers. Come join us to see what difference their team work, professionalism, and skills made in the caller's life.]
      • Good presentation and very friendly. Answered questions at the time asked or as soon as he could. He spend a lot of time with us and made it feel like we were included a lot.
      • I thought the content & presentation of this class was outstanding – it is obvious that it is taught by a caring professional.  This class gives great insight to suicide on many levels.
