LEADERSHIP INSTRUCTOR AND CONSULTANT
Dr. André Lanier is a Leadership Instructor and Consultant, specializing in design and delivery of curriculum to empower leaders of emergency response organizations.
Dr. Lanier currently teaches for the United States Navy, serving as the Lead, Naval Flight Officer Contract Instructor in Jacksonville, Florida. He is dual-certified to teach naval flight officer and aircrew students on the Orion P-3C (Submarine hunter) and the Triton MQ-4 (Unmanned) airframes. His primary role is to prepare naval flight officers to efficiently and effectively accomplish their missions and lead their crew.
He retired from the Navy with nearly 23 years of leadership and teaching experience. During his time in the service, he spent time in the submarine, surface and naval aviation communities. After retiring from the Navy, Dr. Lanier spent almost two years with Wal-Mart as a store manager in Washington, NC. After his time with Wal-Mart, he returned to his true passion: teaching and instructing.
Dr. Lanier became involved with the 9-1-1 industry when he was selected by the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) to present a series of lectures at multiple Navigator Conferences. He delivered several presentations on crew resource management (CRM) and how it can be used in the 9-1-1 profession. Dr. Lanier studied the effects of PSAP Leadership styles on the organizational commitment of 9-1-1 telecommunicators.
Dr. Lanier holds a Doctor of Education degree, with a primary focus on adult lifelong learning and a concentration in leadership, from the University of Arkansas. He holds a Masters in Science degree in Operations Management from the University of Arkansas. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina.
